Trademarks

Filing Requirements:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney and stamped with the company seal.

2.   An extract from the entry of the applicant in the commercial registry legalized up to the Bahraini Consulate.

3.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.

4.   List of goods to be covered by the application, no more than six lines.

5.   Eight prints of the mark, if it is a device mark. 

Renewal Requirement:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney and stamped with the company seal.

2.   First time renewal should accomplished with a photo copy of the registration certificate of the mark.

Assignment Requirement:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney by the assignee and stamped with the company seal.

2.   Legalized deed of assignment signed by the assignor and the assignee.

Kindly note the following points:

1.   Bahrain is a member of Madrid protocol.

2.   Time frame from filing up to registration is about 26 months.

3.   Opposition period in after publication is for two months.

4.   Trademarks are registered for ten years and renewed for the same period.

Patents

Filing Requirements:

1.   A Power of Attorney simply signed by the applicant.

2.   An extract from the Commercial Register or from the Memorandum of Association if the applicant is a company, duly legalized up to any Arab consulate

3.   One copy of the English specification and claims together with its Arabic translation.

4.   One set of the drawings relating to the invention, if any.

5.   An abstract of the invention of no more than 200 words, together with the best explanatory diagram.

6.   A deed of assignment signed by the inventor and the applicant and duly legalized up to an Arab consulate, if the applicant is not the inventor.

7.   A certified copy of the application giving the filing date, number and country if the application is to be filed with a priority claim.

Please note the following points:

1.   The Bahrain Patent Law does not provide payment of annuities.

2.   Once the patent is granted, it remains in force for 15 years.

2.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.

3.   Certified copy of the home registration or a registration from any foreign country.

4.   Three representations of the each design.
