Trademarks

Filing Requirements:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney for each application.

2.   List of goods to be covered by the application.

3.   Ten printing block of the mark not exceeding (5cm x 5cm).

4.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.

5.   Number and date of home registration, if any.

6.   Certified copy of priority document must be submitted within a period of six months if priority claimed.

Renewal Requirement:

1.   A simply signed power of attorney for each application.

2.   Ten prints of the mark not exceeding (5cm x 5cm)

3.   The number and date of the registered trademark.

4.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.

5.   Proof of trademark use.

Assignment Requirement: 

1.   Simply signed power of attorney.

2.   A notarized deed of assignment.

3.   Original trademark registration certificate for endorsement.

4.   Nationality, Name, Address of the assignee.

Kindly note the following points:

1.   Time frame from filing up to registration is about 4 months.

2.   Trademarks are registered for 10 years and renewable for similar terms.

3.   Publication comes after the registration as there is no opposition period.

Patents

Filing Requirements:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney for each application.

2.   Nationality, name, address and profession or nature of business of the applicant and the inventor.

3.   Summary of the invention in French and Arabic (around 100 words).

4.   Three copies of the specification and claims in French and Arabic.

5.   Three sets of the formal drawings, if their any.

6.   Simply signed deed of assignment if the applicant is not the inventor.

7.   Certified copy of the priority document for a convention application.

Patent Annuities:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney for each application.

2.   Number and date of filing the patent.

3.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.

Designs

Filing Requirements:

1.   Simply signed power of attorney for each application.

2.   Six identical copies of representations of the design or two specimens of the actual design. Pictures of the design are requested instead of the short description of the design.

3.   Certified copy of the priority document for a convention application to be lodged within six months from the filing date, if priority claimed.

Design Annuities:

4.   Simply signed power of attorney for each application.

5.   Number and date of filing the design.

6.   Nationality, name and address of the applicant.
