Trademarks

 

Filing Requirements:

1.   Legalized power of attorney up to the Yemeni Consulate.

2.   A legalized copy of the certificate of incorporation or an extract of the commercial register which should include the name, address, date of incorporation and objectives of the corporation.

3.   Prints of the trademark (15 print).

4.   The name, Address, Nationality of the applicant and nature of business of the applicant.

5.   The list of goods and classes to be covered by the application.

Renewal Requirement:

1.   Legalized power of attorney up to the Consulate of Yemen.

2.   Photocopy of the trademark registration certificate.

 

Assignment Requirement:

1.   Legalized power of attorney up to the consulate of Yemen.

2.   Assignment Deed legalized up to the Consulate of Yemen.

3.   Certificate of Incorporation or extract from the commercial register or any equivalent of the assignee document legalized up to the Consulate of Yemen.

 

Kindly note the following points:

1.   Time frame from filing up to registration is about 18 months.

2.   Trademarks are registered for 10 years and renewable for another 10 years.

3.   Opposition period is for 6 months in Yemen.

 

Patents

Filing Requirements:

1.   Power of attorney executed by the applicant and duly notarized and legalized up to the Yemeni Consulate.

2.   Notarized and legalized deed of assignment by the Yemeni Consulate, if any executed by the inventor(s), assigning the patent rights to the applicant.

3.   An abstract of the invention of no more than 100 words with an Arabic translation.

4.   One set of the drawings relating to the invention, if their any.

5.   One copy of the specification and claims together with its Arabic translation.

6.   A certified copy of the priority documents if priority to be claimed.

 

Designs

 

Filing Requirements:

1.   Power of attorney executed by the applicant and duly notarized and legalized up to the Yemeni Consulate.

2.  A legalized extract from the Commercial Register or from the Memorandum of Association, if the applicant is a company or body corporate.

3.  A legalized deed of assignment signed by the inventor, if the applicant is not the inventor.

4.  Two copies of the model or design if it is two dimensional or two copies of each view thereof, if it is 3-D.

5.   A certified copy of the priority documents if priority to be claimed.
